Slab Leveling (Slabjacking)

Sunken driveway? Cracked patio? Foam injection lifts the slab back to level in a few hours, not days.

Slab Leveling (Slabjacking) illustration for Killeen, Texas

Sunken concrete slabs are common in Killeen-area driveways, patios, and garage floors. Soil settles, water erodes, and gravity does the rest. Replacing the slab costs thousands. Slabjacking (injecting polyurethane foam underneath to lift it) usually costs a fraction.

How polyurethane slab leveling works

A pro drills 1/2-inch holes through the slab in a calculated pattern. Polyurethane foam gets injected through those holes. The foam expands, fills voids beneath the slab, and lifts the concrete back to level.

The process is fast (2-4 hours for most driveways), clean (no slurry, no big patches), and the slab is usable the same day. Patches in the access holes blend into the existing concrete.

Slabjacking, polyjacking, polyurethane injection: same thing

You’ll hear this service called by several names depending on the contractor:

  • Slabjacking is the most common term in Texas
  • Polyjacking is a brand-style alternative used by some contractors (notably GL Hunt)
  • Polyurethane foam injection is the technically accurate name
  • Concrete lifting or slab lifting are sometimes used as plain-language alternatives

All describe the same technique using the same materials. Pricing and durability are the same regardless of which name a contractor uses.

When slabjacking is the right call

  • Driveways that have sunk near the street or where you park. Foam lifts them back without tearing them out.
  • Patios that have separated from the house. Common in Killeen homes 15+ years old. Foam closes the gap.
  • Garage floors that have settled toward the door. Causes water to flow into the garage during rain. Easy fix.
  • Pool decks that have dropped around the pool shell.

When you need real foundation repair instead

Slabjacking lifts. It doesn’t replace structural foundation repair. If the slab under your house has settled (not the driveway, not the patio), you usually need pressed or helical piers, not foam injection. We’ll tell you straight which one applies. Call (254) 555-0123 for a free evaluation.

Our process

  1. Step 1

    Drill small access holes

Half-inch holes in the slab. Much smaller than the 2-inch holes mudjacking requires.

  2. Step 2

    Inject polyurethane foam

Foam expands beneath the slab in seconds, filling voids and lifting the concrete back to level.

  3. Step 3

    Patch the holes

Small patches blend into the slab. Most jobs are done in 2-4 hours.

  4. Step 4

    Use the slab same day

Walk on it immediately. Drive on it within 30 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Is slabjacking the same as polyjacking or polyurethane injection?
Yes. The same technique gets called slabjacking, polyjacking, polyurethane foam injection, or polyurethane lifting depending on which contractor you ask. They all describe the same process. Drill small holes, inject expanding polyurethane foam beneath the slab, and lift the slab back to level.
What's the difference between slabjacking and mudjacking?
Mudjacking uses a wet slurry of mud, sand, and cement pumped through 2-inch holes. Slabjacking (polyurethane foam) uses 1/2-inch holes and is lighter, dries faster, and won't wash away in heavy rain. Foam costs more upfront but lasts longer in Texas soil. Most Bell County contractors have moved away from mudjacking entirely.
How long does slabjacking last?
Properly installed polyurethane foam doesn't deteriorate and is rated to outlast the slab itself. The lift holds as long as the underlying soil remains stable. If new washouts occur from drainage issues, the slab can settle again, which is why we look at drainage during the assessment.
Can I drive on it the same day?
Yes. Foot traffic is fine immediately after patching. Vehicle traffic is typically okay within 30 minutes. The foam reaches full cure strength within 15-30 minutes.
Will the foam damage my driveway or patio?
No. Polyurethane foam is inert once cured. It won't crack the slab from underneath, attract pests, or react with concrete. The 1/2-inch access holes are patched and barely visible.
Can you fix any sunken slab?
Most slabs that haven't broken into pieces can be lifted. Severely cracked slabs (multiple large fractures) may need partial replacement first. The on-site evaluation tells you straight whether your slab is a candidate.
Is there a warranty on slabjacking?
Most Bell County contractors offer a 5-year warranty on slabjacking work, with some offering longer terms. The warranty typically covers re-lifting if the slab settles again, but doesn't cover settlement caused by new water or soil issues that develop later.
